Where do you live?: London, UK

Tell me a little bit about your business and what was the impetus to startup? 

I am a nutritional health consultant; I work with clients who want to improve their health, body and overall lifestyle. Weight loss, boosting energy levels, better sleep, digestive issues, cooking, general education about health and nutrition are some of the areas I cover. 

Having initially struggled with my own digestion I was fascinated to learn and understand about how foods can affect us so greatly and I love to share that with my clients. For me, the best part of my work is when other people comment on how well my clients are looking. 

Where are your products available? or Where do you teach?

I see clients either at my house in Battersea, the client’s house, or a quiet café. I also teach yoga at the client’s house, or the park in summer. 

What is your biggest achievement so far? 

Working out and understanding my own digestive problems after endless unsuccessful visits to the doctors, it took a while but it has also led me to my new career! 

What is the toughest decision you had to make in the last few months?

Taking the plunge and leaving my highly paid job to become self-employed in a totally new world! 

What’s the best piece of advice you have been given? 

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. 

Many people only contemplate setting up their own business, what advice would you give to spark the catalyst?  

I would just say go for it, take the first step, if you don’t try you will never know.

What do you do to stay active and how has it changed your life? 

Yoga but I also go to Paolo’s body barre in Fulham. The classes are great! They do a mix of barre, yoga and TRX so I get some cardio in too. Cardio definitely gives me the energy I need and keeps me feeling good.

Do you have any favourite tips and tricks to stay healthy and happy everyday? 

Lemon and hot water, I never miss a day. I have even been known to carry lemons in my handbag!  

Another tip is to be prepared. I always carry healthy snacks with me, a small jam jar of nuts, home-made protein bars or some fruit so you don’t get caught out and snack on rubbish.

Do you consider yourself a ‘healthy eater’ and are there habits you wish you could kick?

Yes, I would say I eat healthily but I don’t restrict myself, I listen to my body and give it what it wants. I love dark chocolate but I don’t class it as a ‘treat’ I try to eat everything in moderation.  

What is your typical…

Breakfast: In the winter I can’t eat enough porridge, my current favourite recipe is coconut and chia porridge. (recipe here)  Sometimes I might swap it for a nutritious green smoothie, depending on how I am feeling. 

Lunch: I always make a big batch of food on a Sunday so I am prepared. This week I made a shredded sprout salad, roast some butternut squash and boiled some brown rice. I love a big quinoa salad with roast veggies and a side of rocket and feta. 

Dinner: I love brown rice or quinoa with a poached salmon fillet with greens. I might cook a big vegetable curry season veg. I always try to eat seasonally. 

Lastly, how lucky are you, and why?

VERY! I am now working in a world that I love, helping people achieve their goals and not only get them looking great but also feeling the best they ever have!
